I like to sew in the winter when it's too cold to stay outside for very long. So I recently made two dresses and a shorter-version "top" for Maggie. Heather likes sleeveless versions so she can pair Maggie's clothes with a long-sleeved knit top in the winter months, and if it fits Maggie when the weather warms up, she can still wear it with a short-sleeve shirt or sleeveless.(As fast as that little girl is growing ...maybe not.) Heather also likes modern/contemporary fabrics that are popular in kids retail fashions these days vs traditional "childrens" fabrics that I used to sew for kids. So I shopped around on the internet -- I can't even guess how many fabric swatches I looked at -- hundreds at least -- to find fabrics. Here are my results. Now I am sewing for myself and it's quite a switch from 18-inch lengths and 22-inch widths, to .....

Oh, Pam I love the puffed sleeves. I haven't seen those in years. The reason being I haven't had a little girl to dress in over 40 years. Can you even believe how old I am? Oh well love your talented masterpieces.
I am very impressed with the darling outfits!! I think an A+ is in order here!! Isn't it just so fun to sew for a little girl?? Here's a couple of ideas for your continued fabric search. Go to E-Bay and type in Amy Butler fabric. She is a designer that the young crowd likes a lot. Also, www.keepsakequilting.com carries a lot of lines and often have some of the mod stuff as well as the more traditional. I will keep my eyes peeled and let you know if I see something and where you might find it. Is there still a fabric/quilt shop in Ft. Collins? It seems like they would have some of the newer looks too.
